Tender Notice.

It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in duplicate which should clearly be marked "Tenders for the provision of bathing facilities at Repulse Bay, Main Beach" will be received at the office of the Chairman, Tender Board, Colonial Secretariat until noon on Tuesday, 31st October, 1950.

Tenders are invited for the sole concession of· leasing Crown Land for providing bathing facilities and associated beach services on a portion of Repulse Bay, Main Beach, for a period of 25 years on payment of an annual Crown Rent, the tenderer to be bound to expend not less than $500,000 on the provision of facilities on a scale and within the periods of time to be set out in a Schedule and attached to the Tender.

The successful tenderer will be required to enter into an agreement in a form to be approved by Government to erect and to maintain in good repair at his own expense pavilions and such other buildings as may be approved, on portions of the beach, adjoining the Beach Road to be granted to him by Crown Lease. Plans showing the area in question and detailed plans of a Government scheme for development of the area may be seen in the office of Secretary, Urban Council. Tenderers who do not propose to adopt the prepared scheme must submit sketch plans and line drawings with their tenders, and must indicate clearly the portions of the beach or adjoining land which they will require to be included in the Lease.

The accommodation to be provided for the public may be of varying grades but it is essential that ample provision be made for persons who only require changing facilities, locker accommodation for clothes, the use of communal showers, etc., charges for which must not exceed $1.00 per person inclusive. The tenderers shall indicate in a Schedule submitted with the tender the accommodation and facilities proposed to be provided and the charges proposed to be made therefor.

Tenderers must attach to each tender a Deposit Receipt showing that they have deposited at the Treasury, Prince's Building, the sum of $1,000 as a pledge of the bona fides of their tenders which sum will be forfeited to the Crown if the successful tenderer fails, or refuses to implement his tender. The deposits will be returned to unsuccessful tenderers.

The successful tenderer will be required to enter into a written Lease Agreement in a form approved by Government and also to deposit with the Treasury a sum of $50,000 or provide satisfactory security for the due fulfilment of the contract, such deposit or security to be released and refunded on the completion of the buildings and other structures and the carrying out in other respects of the works specified in these conditions and which may be set up in the accepted tender, but to be liable to forfeiture in the event of the failure to execute such buildings and works in accordance with the terms of the tender.
